Organic seeds and plants are available at the Urban Harvest garden centre until end of June

Organic and Heirloom Plants & Seeds for Sale in Toronto

Looking for a good source of organic plants and seeds to get your garden growing? Urban Harvest is open at 1336 Bloor St West until the end of June. Here you will find tomato varieties of all types, other vegetables, as well as annual and perennial herbs, berry bushes and lots more. The outdoor garden centre is open 7 days per week, Mon – Fri 10 to 7, Saturday 10 – 6, Sunday 11 – 5.

You can also find Urban Harvest’s seeds and plants at the Dufferin Grove Farmers Market on Thursdays, in Dufferin Grove Park (875 Dufferin Street), 3 to 7 pm. The Bee Shop Offers Store Tours and Beeswax Candle-Making

Right next door to Urban Harvest is the Bee Shop, an urban farm apiary where a variety of bee-friendly activities are offered including beekeeping classes (for both adults and youth), one-hour store tours, and more.

Upcoming tours are scheduled for June 14, July 19, and August 16. Highlights of the tour include: making a mini-beeswax candle, tasting different honeys, touring the bee-themed rooftop garden and hives, and learning about the benefits of bees. (Tour fee = $18 to $22)

Also on the schedule are beeswax candle-making workshops where attendees can learn how to make 3 types of beeswax candles to take home. Upcoming dates are: June 21 and July 20. (Workshop fee: $65)

Proprietor Oliver Couto is one of the top experts on beekeeping in the country.

Make-Your-Own Natural Suncare Products

In this fun and informative virtual workshop, you will learn the art of making your own natural sunblocks, SPF lip balms, and after sun care products using only 100% natural and organic ingredients.

Participants will learn how to heal their skin when they’ve gotten too much sun, and how to create facial repair serums: what natural substances can be used to reverse sun damage. Handouts will be provided, including lots of recipes and a recording of the product-making demonstration.
