Julie Daniluk, R.H.N. November 1, 2013From the Vitality Food Feature ‘CULINARY SPICES THAT HEAL‘. My all-time favourite fall and winter beverage, this comforting drink is anti-inflammatory and calming without making you drowsy. I recommend it to alleviate brain fog or an upset tummy. (Makes 8 cups)
Ingredients
- 4 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk (almond, coconut, hemp, sesame)
- 4 cups ginger root tea (2 inches grated ginger)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp stevia whole-leaf powder (or 1/4 tsp stevia extract or 1-2 tsp unpasteurized, liquid honey
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp cloves, powdered
1) Make ginger root tea by grating 2 inches of ginger into a mason jar. Top with 4 cups of boiling water and steep for 2-8 hours to desired strength.
2) Combine all ingredients in a 3 quart (3 L) saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve hot.
