In a world where many people are searching for ways to reduce stress, restore balance, and reconnect with themselves, one ancient healing tradition has quietly stood the test of time for more than 5,000 years.

On Saturday, July 18, Devi Sanctuary in beautiful Bewdley, Ontario will open its gates for Ayurveda: The Mother of Healing Festival – a full-day celebration of healing, spirituality, education, music, community, and self-care inspired by the world's oldest holistic health system.

Whether you are already familiar with Ayurveda or simply curious about natural approaches to health and wellness, this immersive experience offers an opportunity to explore ancient wisdom in a welcoming and inspiring environment.

The day begins with a Traditional Vedic Fire Ceremony (Havan) led by Swami Haripriya, offering participants healing herbal smoke, sacred blessings, and an opportunity to experience one of India's most revered spiritual traditions. Visitors will also witness the installation of Dhanwantari, the Father of Ayurveda, accompanied by healing mantras presented by the Kirtan Culture Initiative, whose uplifting call-and-response chanting creates an atmosphere of joy, peace, and connection.

Throughout the day, guests will enjoy an inspiring line-up of presentations and experiential workshops led by respected teachers and practitioners.

  • International yoga trainer Ananda Xenia Shakti will guide participants through an Ayurveda Yoga practice designed to help balance the body's unique constitution, while award-winning composer and sound healer Michael Moon joins her for an immersive Full Body Sound Healing experience that blends music, vibration, and deep relaxation.
  • Festival founder Andrea Olivera, one of Canada's leading Ayurveda beauty and wellness educators, will present interactive sessions exploring the ancient stories that continue to guide healing today, while sharing practical self-care rituals that visitors can easily incorporate into their daily lives.
  • Nutrition also plays a central role in Ayurvedic living. During her presentation, Dr. Manjiri Nadkarni, an Ayurvedic physician and holistic nutrition expert, will explore the fascinating concept of the "Sixth Taste" and explain how Ayurveda uses food as one of its most powerful tools for maintaining balance and vitality.
  • Adding to the festival's unique atmosphere is a special performance by Tahira of Rose & Hive Mother Matrix, whose sacred music and multicultural approach to community healing beautifully complements the day's spiritual theme.

Guests will also enjoy an authentic Ayurvedic vegetarian lunch, included with admission, along with refreshments served throughout the day.

Beyond the presentations, the festival transforms Devi Sanctuary into a vibrant wellness village. Visitors can browse the Healing Marketplace featuring handcrafted items, wellness products, and opportunities to experience a wide variety of mini sessions and readings.

Offerings include Vedic Astrology, Tarot Readings, Chakra Assessments, Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis, Shirodhara, Indian Head Massage, Ayurvedic facial treatments, and other mini healing services provided by graduates of the Andrea Olivera Academy's Ayurveda Spa Specialist Program. It's the perfect opportunity to sample therapies and meet experienced practitioners in an intimate setting.

The day concludes with a peaceful Forest Sound Healing Ceremony, inviting participants to reconnect with nature while experiencing the calming sounds and vibrations of the sacred forest at Devi Sanctuary – a memorable ending to a day devoted to restoration and inner balance.

More than simply a wellness event, Ayurveda: The Mother of Healing Festival is a celebration of community, ancient knowledge, and holistic living. Whether you attend seeking practical health advice, spiritual inspiration, meaningful connection, or simply a relaxing day surrounded by nature, you'll leave with new insights and experiences that can continue long after the festival ends.
