Welcome to the Year of the Water Rabbit!
The Chinese Lunar New Year began on January 22nd. However it’s February 4th, the first day
of Spring in the Chinese calendar, that brings in the new energy and has the greatest influence
on our environments and ourselves.
This is a unique time as 2023 is the last year of a 20-year period of earth energies (think real
estate, accumulation, and material things), which will end Feb 4 th , 2024, when a new era
begins. In the 20-year cycle now ending, young men enjoyed good fortune and there has been
an increase in contributions from young people in general.
The new 20-year periodof Fire energy is characterized by the immaterial, digital, and spiritual, technology, image, and
attention (think social media) and ultimately transformation. Fire moves fast and our world
does too. In this new 20 year cycle, middle-aged women are favoured to succeed and increase
in fortune and contribution.
Of course, the energies don’t change in one day and the energetic influences actually began in
2017 and again in 2020 with the Jupiter Saturn conjunction. We have been seeing the effects
for the last several years. It is part of the ‘chaos’ we are witnessing.
Every year brings different energies into the world influencing global events and trends, and,
closer to home, our living and working environments, our Feng Shui, and ourselves i.e. our
astrology. Our world, like a sine wave, is a cycle of upwards and downwards, trending up or
down at any given moment. In Chinese metaphysics this is Yin and Yang.
Once we realize this, we know whatever we are experiencing now is temporary and its
counterpart is yet to come in a continuous cycle of ebb and flow. This allows us to plan, and
also to feel encouraged when challenged, as troubling times are our greatest teachers, often
leading to our greatest successes.
Chinese Astrology reveals many things: our natal talents, tendencies, strong and weak points,
and foresight of our life going forward. This includes the probabilities we are likely to
experience in any given year. Our birth print cannot be changed however there are ways to
maximize opportunities and minimize challenges. Forewarned is forearmed.
The Water Rabbit year brings in the energies of water and wood, as well as fire, and noticeably
lacks earth and metal. Not surprisingly, this predicts global economic challenges, inflation,
supply chain issues, and declining trust.
It is advised to consciously bring in determination and self discipline, and to be grounded and
trustworthy as these qualities are not supported by the energy of the year.
The following recommendations are for each of the 12 Animal birth years.
Note that in the Chinese calendar years begin Feb 3, 4, or 5 not January 1.
RABBIT – 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023
In a Rabbit year, those born in the year of the Rabbit have the power of attention. Everyone is
looking at you, waiting for instructions. Step up in your industry and your community; take a
lead with your friends. You may experience some changes in these areas too. Do not avoid
stepping up to a leadership role. It will be a busy year, so manage your energy and emotions as
if you’re tired or unhappy you cannot manifest well. Build connections. Expect good things.
Helping others this year will help you next year.
DRAGON – 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024
Things may not have gone your way in 2022. In 2023 you may still experience frustrations;
however, these situations are the universe encouraging you to pivot to a new direction. What
you were doing before was not optimal. This year, you are gifted with problem solving ability.
For greater success, find ways to solve problems for the marketplace. Cultivate a generosity
of spirit. To receive more support, help others first.
SNAKE – 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013
Whatever reward you want, you need to travel to get it whether physically or online. This
could be online marketing and sales, social media, or traveling, to find a new career, new
clients or a new partner for males. You can travel to find a property with a good valuation or to
find the right people to help you achieve your next step. Spend time with your elders and
appreciate them while they’re here. Learn something new that can advance you. You appear
to be an expert. Be helpful to others to attract helpers to you.
HORSE – 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014
Expect changes. These may be sudden. You are on a journey of improving what you are doing.
You can increase your wealth by learning new ways to improve your performance. It is also
easier for you to learn new things this year. You have the support of others around you who
are important to you. This could be your market, customers, boss, superiors, or officials e.g. for
an approval process. Official rules could also change the status quo.
GOAT – 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015
This year you can be recognized for your efforts. You have a chance for promotion. You have
problem solving abilities, so whatever comes up, you can likely solve it. Be creative in problem
solving as opposed to solving things the same way. You may receive some overnight fame.
People will see what you are doing so take care to be famous for a good thing. It’s a good year
for networking, people may want to join your following. Don’t hide.
MONKEY – 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016
This year you have increased chances for promotion or higher position and are likely to have
luck with property whether buying, selling or renovating. You can find a helpful person who
can guide you in unconventional wisdom or spiritual pursuits, and these are topics you can
easier understand this year. Watch out for possible theft and overspending. You have a lot of
problem solving ability this year. Gain a reputation for your problem solving to increase your
value. The more you contribute value the better your luck becomes.
ROOSTER – 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017
You have the chance to pursue a new opportunity. This process may not be comfortable
however that doesn’t mean you won’t get what you want. A secret is to ask for what you want.
You may change jobs or take up something more challenging in your job. You may have some
emotional disappointment. You also have the rare chance to clear a health issue. Protect your
health in intimate encounters.
DOG – 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018
Opportunities and increased chances for partnerships, whether personal or professional, are
coming to you. You can find a relationship; you can increase your marketplace. Opportunities
may relate to promotion, leadership, starting a business with a partner, or taking on
something to prove your worth that can establish a track record for the future. This year, you
have the ability to make a problem irrelevant.
PIG –1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019,
You can meet and receive help from helpful people and mentors who have the position,
wisdom, or experience to benef it you. You are likely to be dealing with multiple parties in
some way e.g. you may be on a team. You’re also likely to be on a journey of enjoying good
food and drink. Be mindful of what you eat and practice some level of discipline to avoid extra
pounds.
RAT – 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020
Your secret to getting positive energies working for you is to take on a challenging routine e.g.
working out with a very demanding trainer or striving to give up an addiction. This year the
more you “punish” yourself in your pursuit, the better the rewards. No pain no gain, however,
do avoid the overly adventurous. The whole world is likely to be attracted to you. Beware of
beginning a toxic relationship and take care to avoid viruses. When people tell you not to do
something, don’t take on unnecessary risks.
OX – 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021
This is a year for self discipline and self motivation. You may feel lonely, however make good
use of this rare opportunity to spend quality time with yourself. One can accomplish a lot
more when free of distractions. Have a clear objective of what you want to accomplish and
work on your own projects; you’ll have free reign in whatever you are doing. This is a good
time for inner reflection and for learning to accept yourself. Take care of your health. If your
immunity is low, avoid visiting ill friends or relatives. Avoid drama and concentrate on
whatever you’d like to concentrate on. If you get into any trouble, there is a way out; a helpful
person will show up and help you.
TIGER – 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022
Health is wealth. Last year may have been a pressured adrenaline rush for you. This year is the
time to take care of your health, realign, strengthen your body, and upgrade your immune
system. Plan time for rest. Exercise. There should not be a lot of things obstructing your
progress, however it may be easy to be forgetful e.g. where did you leave your keys. You may
fail to notice things so watch your step, so you don’t trip. Avoid places where you’ll be more
likely to become sick. This year there is also money coming to you and it should be easy to find
a partner.
These are general probabilities we are likely to experience if we just go with the flow and don’t

As human beings we have free will and can do a lot to elevate ourselves to a higher level. This
includes how we take care of ourselves, our mindset, our charitable deeds and our Feng Shui.
