Thoughts on Good Luck, Bad Luck, and Chinese Medicine Theory

This is a very interesting topic. Since I was a little boy, I have always been curious about life along with healing arts such as herbalism, meditation, face reading, and psychic kinetic power.
This strong interest began when I was 14 years old. At a social gathering on an island near Hong Kong, I started talking about palmistry with a group of young friends. I told my friend Tsui that he would have some troubles in his life before the age of 23. About three years later, my classmate Francis Lai told me that our friend Tsui had crossed the road, turned back to pick up something from the ground, and was killed by a taxi. Francis remembered what I had said earlier. My prediction of his early death was based on three things:
- He talked in such a way that the ending sound was very short. For example, if someone pronounces “Francis” he would pronounce “Fransa”.
- According to Chinese face reading, the human face is divided into three parts; the forehead is called the patio of the heaven which represents our childhood and the constitutional influence. In modern language it is the DNA signal from the genes. The medial patio is the nose and the cheek bone, which represents the life of our middle age. The lower patio is the mouth and chin, which represents the life of old age. Tsui’s medial and lower patio were very undeveloped which was short and weak.
- In my friend’s palm, the “lifeline” was very short; this indicated that he would encounter trouble at around 23 to 25 years old.
I missed Tsui who was a hairdresser. Looking back, I remember that every time he came to visit me from his village he insisted to pay for lunch and dinner because I was a student. He was not like the other city boys who were competitive, cold and aggressive.
I followed the ancient Chinese custom that I should pay since he was the guest, but unfortunately I had no money. My stepfather was working in a ship traveling around the world and my biological father was locked in a labour camp in Communist China for 20 years. My mother had a mental disorder and became a heavy gambler. I hardly had good meals. My kind friend Tsui said to me: “Soup noodle, you have good appetite, eat more.” Tsui called me “Soup noodle” because “Soup noodle” in Chinese sounds like “Tommy” in English.
By 2006 I was treating patients from the Far East as well as North America and Europe with different backgrounds, nationalities, and stories. Because of this, I developed a better worldview with a holistic concept about life and healing, and the correlation between good health and good luck.
The Ancient Chinese healers are always experts in medicine, fortune telling, astrology, and face reading. Indeed, there are many different things to learn and modern life is so stressful. In my profession, I already know a lot compared to other healers, and I chose to focus on healing, TCM internal medicine, acupuncture, tui-na massage, and qi-gong meditation. The other skills, such as fortune telling and astrology are only my hobbies and I am not proficient in them.
Good luck and Bad Luck
Many friends and students would ask me “Is there any solution for the bad luck?” Here I have to quote a famous saying from the very intelligent Military Advisor, the Taoist Liu Bo Yuen, who had helped the Emperor to form the Ming Dynasty in China. He said: “First life; second luck; third Feng shui” – this means people are born with destiny, second is luck, “Yuen qi” in Chinese, (“Yuen“ means move, “Qi” means energy, the full meaning is good luck).
That is why China was controlled by the Mongolians and all the dictators wanted to be the ruler of this big nation. One day when the Taoist, Liu Bo Yuen, met the future founder of Ming Dynasty, Liu told the poor man that his face told him that he would be the founder of the future nation and told him to love the people and dedicate to policies and also to think about the big picture concept.
It is my personal opinion that all human beings have their position in society. Just like the herbs in nature, some of them are very expensive and some are cheap. Some of them are poisonous, but even the poisonous herbs can be used for certain situations. If we fully utilize our talent, we can do something good for society, but we have to cultivate ourselves, learn, improve and also heal ourselves if we have problems. After that we become a better person. There is no need to compete with each other.
Some people ask me: “How about the bad luck? Can it be avoided?” My answer is yes and no. Why? Because in this universe nothing is absolute. Some people have a higher sixth sense. They do escape the bad luck.
Some people ask me “How about Feng Shui?” My answer: Even if you have a good feng shui advisor, you still have to work hard. Be careful with some of the Feng shui masters and psychic readers. I have heard bad stories about some of the Feng shui masters. For example, about 18 years ago one of my patients had a Feng shui master visit her store and charge expensive fees. Then the master wanted to go to my patient’s home to chat. After half an hour of casual conversation, the master charged $2,000. My patient gave him the money and followed the Master’s advice to change the arrangement of furniture in her company but it didn’t work as the feng shui master had promised. After a short while, my patient’s company went bankrupt.
I repeat again “First life, second luck, third feng shui”. Some people are born with a certain talent, like the great musician Mozart, but unfortunately Mozart had been living in poverty. As you see, Feng Shui is the last element for the 3 positions.
Examples
Picture 1:

According to the ancient Chinese face reading, the face shows the whole destination of the person, including luck, health, wisdom, talent. There are different positions on the face that represent different ages, and the names are very artistic and logical.
Picture 2:

This is a picture of President Lincoln. The positions 56 and 57 are not even. Traditionally according to face reading, they are called the line of order. In Lincoln’s face those lines are broken (he was assassinated at the age of 56). The second weakness of his face is the eye. We call it the typical “three white eye”. The bottom part of his eyes are all white, the same as Princess Diana who died a few years ago. Some of these theories can be explained. It is all related to TCM theory. If the eyes always look up, it indicates hyperactive of yang qi (means hyperactive of positive energy) and these kind of people tend to have some drastic behaviour. Due to this reason, this kind of person would tend to have more accidents.
The Murderer
There are different descriptions about the position between the two eyebrows.
- In acupuncture, we call this position the “stamp of the patio” which is the point for calming effect which works like an anti-inflammatory drug. For some patients who have mental disorder, we can drain some of the blood from that location.
- In qi-gong meditation, we call it the upper Dan Tian. It can develop a psychic ability and also heal ourselves from stress. Please refer to the Picture 3. In my meditation, it is one of 6 gates.
In the old face reading book, there is a saying if the “stamp of the patio” turns black and dark, the person would die in 3 days. I have seen quite a few people that have this problem. I told one of my students, David S. Fifteen years later, he told me about one of these theories.
The story begins with his cousin who is an artist who went out with a girl. One day he told David that he had to leave the nation because a woman was madly in love with him. He had family and children. The day before he left the nation, he went out to have dinner with David and said to him that he was in trouble. After the dinner, he went to see the woman again. The woman put sleeping pills in his cup. After he fell asleep, she used the wire to choke his neck and stabbed him to death with a knife. David said to me that he noticed the unusual colour showed up on his cousin’s “stamp of the patio”. The victim’s family is still alive and I need to protect them, so I cannot say where the man was killed.
Why does the stagnated colour show up in this area? In Qi-gong meditation, this area can improve our sixth sense and even develop psychic kinetic power. In western medicine, behind that location is the pituitary gland which is considered the master hormone gland of the human body.
Readers may ask: “Can the above problem be improved?” From my experience, when the patient makes a strong decision to heal himself/herself, they would improve their health especially if they found a good acupuncturist. By releasing the blockage using the needles to activate the qi flow of the energy channel, the human body starts to improve, the cells start to rejuvenate bit by bit, and they become calmer. If the patient is willing to combine acupuncture with herbs, Qi-gong meditation, improved diet, as well as reducing stress, with holistic concept, holistic execution, then they will enjoy the holistic result. Some of the key points are as follows:
- Calm yourself down
- Do some deep breathing when you get up from bed in the morning
- Clean your own place, make everything highly organized as usual (hoau)
- Cut down all the unnecessary activities, including all the material things. We have to realize that we cannot have everything in life
- Improve diet
- The one who eats too much meat has to be vegetarian for a while until everything is improved
- Avoid friction with people, do not make enemies
- Maintain emotional stability
- Avoid contact with people who have bad energy, such as a person who can get jealous, depressed, moody and anger easily, unless you can handle this type of individual
- Try to cut drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol to zero
- Don’t make hasty decisions
- Make sure to sleep early
Please read my poem “Modern Life”.
MODERN LIFE
Advance with steady step.
Get the big picture with holistic concept.
Differentiate the essential and inessential.
An effort with one achievement a day.
The modern industrialized and commercialized society has great mental pressure with little physical movement! So we must have a way to live based on the holistic concept. Think about the big picture. Differentiate the essential and the inessential. First, emphasize health; second, knowledge; third, money. Advance with a stable step, one cannot rush achievement, rather, work overtime with long hours. Excessive stress can make a human lose normal ability. Rushing can also cause mistakes. Give up complications and be submissive to simplicity. Make sure one has enough time to make an effort with an achievement a day!
As an individual does well, more people will become well, then the society will be well.
