Pure + Simple is set to launch a skincare line featuring new formulas for the treatment of rosacea. Holistic Vanity Rosacea Care by Kristen Ma will be unveiled at a pre-Valentine's Day celebration of self-love, 'Amour de Soi,' on Feb. 8 at the Bata Shoe Museum. Registration for the public event – which will feature a talk by Ma on how to reduce skin inflammation as well as free samples form the new line – was closed weeks ago after attendance reached capacity.

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disorder affecting more than 16 million North Americans. In response to its overwhelming prevalence, Ma developed a new line that specifically targets this skin ailment. The line marries pure ingredients with results-focused formulas. "When we opened our first spa, we were surprised to see that over half of our clients had rosacea," Ma said. "They were seeking us out because natural skincare is so much gentler on delicate skin and is free of chemical irritants. We became specialists in sensitivity, and now I’m excited to showcase what I’ve seen work, as an esthetician, over the last ten years."

Ma is co-founder of Pure + Simple Inc., Toronto’s beauty chain specializing in all-natural and organic skincare. All her products are free of petrolatum, phenoxyethanol, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances and dyes, and animal by-products. Holistic Vanity Rosacea Care is the first of four new product lines under Pure + Simple’s Holistic Vanity brand, with Acne Care, Anti-Aging Care and Damage Care still to come. The new rosacea care products will be introduced into Pure + Simple’s stores in February 2012.

Among the new products is Calming Aloe Kumari Cleanser, an anti-inflammatory, cleansing milk that gently washes away impurities while infusing moisture into the skin. Unlike most diluted skincare formulations, this cleanser is not mostly water. It is highly concentrated with its primary ingredient, restorative aloe vera juice, and does not contain any plain H2O. This, combined with a blend of potent healing oils and extracts, makes for a wonderfully nurturing cleansing milk. Directions: Use day and night by applying a thumbprint sized amount of this cleanser to wet skin and massage it in gently and lovingly with your fingertips. Rinse clean with tepid water. Because sensitive and rosacea skin types have delicate blood vessels, it is important not to shock them with water that is extremely hot or cold.
