“Delicious can in fact be highly nutritious.” This is the mantra of Rawfoodz Inc., which makes a line of eight superfood-infused salad dressings, dips and spreads. Rawfoodz products have a lot of good things in common: They are all plant-based, nut-free, gluten-free and organic, and packed with a plethora of disease-fighting, immune-boosting properties. The base of each dressing is organic, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil and raw apple cider vinegar. This liquid mix is then thickened with select organic seeds, including hemp, white chia, and brown unhulled sesame. For sweetener, Rawfoodz uses low-glycemic, highly mineralized, coconut sugar that has not been heated or refined.
Each dressing has its own unique flavour and distinct health benefits. Japanese Joy contains ginger, sprouted brown rice and coconut aminos, while Italian Idol has a zesty herbal blend of basil, parsley, dill and oregano. Glorious Greek dressing has hemp protein and lots of oregano, an herb with anti-bacterial properties. Purely Poppy is a creamy traditional dressing with organic onion, brown sesame seeds, and poppy seeds – nature’s source of calcium.
French Fusion has a blend of superfoods with a secret ingredient: the goji berry. This highly sustainable, immune-building, strength-promoting fruit makes the dressing unique and satisfying. There’s a polysaccharide found in the goji berry that stimulates the secretion of the rejuvenative human growth hormone.
The company’s take on creamy Caesar dressing, Sea-zar Serenity, is “in a class of its own,” the company says, because it is loaded with vegetable protein, vitamins B6 and B12, potassium and iron. It also contains vitamins A, C and E, all good antioxidants, and a good dose of calcium. “With superior consistency and taste, you won’t believe it’s actually good for you,” according to Rawfoodz. Zen Budda, a raw, vegan version of a butter-style spread, comes in original and garlic. Ingredients including organic extra-virgin olive oil, organic extra-virgin coconut oil, hemp seeds, and nutritional yeast are intended to increase energy and promote weight loss, according to Rawfoodz. The spreads give you the taste of butter without the preservatives, chemicals and free radicals found in many dairy products and rancid oils.
The dressings are low in sodium and contain about 50 calories per tablespoon. Rawfoodz is highly committed to freshness, nourishment and taste, so you might just forget that what you’re eating is actually healthy.
